This morning we have five important nominations made by the President of the United States for various positions. We're going to have some introductions here in a moment. The way we run a show is we're going to let the people who are here introduce. They have other things they have to do, so we'll excuse them, and then myself and Senator Shaheen will make opening remarks. We'll then hear from the nominees, and then we'll open it to a round of questioning. So let's start with Senator Graham here. I guess not. Well, Congressman, you're gonna introduce Leah Campos for Dominican Republic, is that correct?
Well, thank you. Thank you, Chairman Grish, and thank you, Ranking Member Shaheen and members of the committee. It's an incredible honor to introduce my good friend and President Trump's nominee to be the next ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Ms. Leah Campos. Leah and I have known each other for over 10 years. We first met in 2015, and for the past decade, I have known and I have seen her dedication and known that she's been destined to represent our nation at the highest levels. She's an incredible leader with a wealth of knowledge on the US Dominican Republic relationship. When you consider Leah's background, you clearly understand why President Trump has chosen her to serve in this role. She has worked extensively throughout her career in strategic roles relating to Latin America and the Caribbean in both public and private sectors. Like me, Leah is a product of the American dream. She comes from a family focused on service and patriotism. And Leah often highlights the inspiration her parents have been for her in her service. Her father came from humble roots in a mining town in our home state of Arizona and went on to serve in the Air Force for over 28 years. Her mother is an immigrant from Spain. Leah grew up abroad where she learned the importance of the United States role in the world. and her background makes her uniquely qualified to represent our nation in a role as ambassador. Her decade-long service with the U.S. government makes her well qualified to serve our nation. And if confirmed, I am confident that Leah will thrive in this role to support and strengthen the U.S. interests with the Dominican Republic. Mr. Chairman, thank you again for the opportunity to introduce Leah. And thank you, Leah, and your family for your willingness to serve our great country. With that, I yield, sir.
Certainly. Chairman Risch and Ranking Member Shaheen, thank you so much for having this hearing. the wonderful panel that we have here. You all are about to have the opportunity to serve the greatest nation in the world to represent us. It's the honor of a lifetime. It certainly was for me the honor of a lifetime to do a job like you're preparing to do, and I certainly look forward to your confirmations very soon. But today it's a special honor for me to introduce my good friend Charlie Kushner. Charlie is President Trump's nominee to be the U.S.
