Good morning. The committee will please come to order. A quorum is present. The committee meets today pursuant to a notice to consider four bills. Further, we'll consider Ranking Member Scott's resolution of inquiry. Before we move any further, let me just take a point of personal privilege to ask that all of us would remember in prayer Don Norcross, a member of this committee, good guy who had a medical, significant medical emergency and as I'm told is recovering now and His whole spirit says that he's going to be back with us as soon as possible. But as you think of Donald, remember him, good guy, member of this committee, in need of our prayers. Before we move any further, I'd like to welcome Representative Randy Fine to the committee. Without objection, he will be added to the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development, Subcommittee on Workforce Protections, and the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions. Without objection, Representative Stefanik will also be added to the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development. I'd like to recognize Representative Fein for one minute to make a brief statement. Welcome.

I grew up a child of two public school educators in the state of Kentucky and had a reasonably good life because of the education that I got. You know, went off to college, was able to start three companies that all did fairly well. and got into politics again because I wanted every child to have the same opportunities I did. So I come here from the Florida legislature where I served until the day before my election and most of my time there I was focused on education. I chaired both our budgetary committees on K-12 as well as higher education for four of my eight years and was known for running the largest school choice expansion bill in the history of the United States. I believe education is a miracle that can take people from where they are to where they want to go. And so it's a privilege to be here to work with all of you to see that we give that opportunity to every child who does not have those opportunities that many of us have right now so that that next generation can come up and sit in the seats that we're sitting in now. So it's an honor to be here and thanks for having me.
